Jesus

The question of: "Where did I come from?" was especially important for Jesus.  The Bible tells us that Jesus was conceived through the power of the Holy Spirit in the woman named Mary.  He was therefore the son of God and the son of Mary.  He had brothers and sisters who were conceived by Joseph (Jesus' step-father) and Mary.

During his life on earth, Jesus learnt from his father's words in scriptures and through the relationship he built with God through prayer.  In fact he learnt so well and behaved so well that he became the perfect representative for God.  He had the same mind and standards as God and as such became "God with us (Emmanuel).

Remarkably he never sinned.

Jesus was the foundation of God's plan to save mankind by showing us all how to live our lives and also through his sacrifice he found a way to reconcile sinful man back to God through the act of baptism and joining ourselves with Christ.

The most amazing fact of these events was that Jesus was a human just like us and so was able to fully experience our temptations and trials.  This makes him the perfect mediator between God and humankind.

Long after Jesus' death and resurrection, a new concept arose that suggested that Jesus was somehow a part of God that came to earth in the form of a man.  This is not supported in the Bible and undermines God's wonderful plan and the incredible achievement of Jesus.  Nonetheless, this faulty understanding has gained mainstream acceptance in Christianity.
